Our Story

In 1924, a young Polish pianist named Jańa Wolska left Kraków for Paris, chasing the sound of the jazz age. Through the smoky clubs of Montmartre she played the late shift, saving every franc.

By 1931 she had a room of her own — a small café-bar dressed in the maroon velvet and gilded gold of the opera houses and old Kraków churches she had grown up around, paired with the buttery pastries and late-night jazz of her adopted city.

She played piano there herself, every night, until she passed the café to her granddaughter. Today's Jańa carries the legacy forward — her original piano, her recipes, and the maroon-and-gold room she imagined it in.

Live Jazz Nightly

Every evening after eight, Jańa's original 1927 grand comes to life. Standards, ballads, and slow-burning bossa — poured alongside a glass of something red.
